I would like to increase the Ram on my desktop PC (currently 2 x 256Mb PC2100 DDR) and have been told that the faster the better - fair enough.
I can buy 512Mb in PC2100, PC2700 and PC3200 form, all for virtually the same price. I have told they can all swop but this begs the question why still make the slower ones? Needless to say for the minimal difference in cost I would rather buy the fastest whilst I am at it.
My question is, does it matter which speed I buy, will they all work with the motherboard I have? Thanks,

Ivan

The faster stuff won't work at top speed on all motherboards, I'm afraid you'll have to find your motherboard manual to check what speed you can have.

However, I'm farily certain you can buy RAM that's too quick for the motherboard and it'll work, just not at full speed. I would wait until someone else confirms that before you go and buy some though.
