Two choices spring to mind. First one is The Brewery Tap which is located on New Station Street, about 100 yards from the front of the station - out of the front, keep right and it's the first building on the left. Run by the Leeds Brewery, it has their good ales plus a number of others. Good bar snacks too.

Other choice is The Hop, located in the Dark Arches, which is sort of under the station. Run by the Ossett Brewery, again has a great selection of beers and does a cracking pie and peas.

They both sound great - thanks for the info (The Palace near the bus station is the only pub I really know in Leeds).

North Bar is interesting, has nice a selection or world beers.

About a ten min stroll from the station.

+1 too!

Very nice place, although seen one or two dheads in there.

Also if you're into some alternative real ale Brewdog is opening a bar on Call Lane early in the new year!

Brewery Tap:

Scarborough Hotel / Taps:

All within a 2 minute stagger of the station, less if riding a fully-fuelled beer scooter.

Thanks all - useful for future reference. Went to at The Hop but didn't have as much time to kill as planned - excellent pint of Yorkshire Blonde and pleasantly cheap by Durham/ Newcastle prices.

Another vote for the Scarborough Taps.

Will be in there next week, for pre Xmas drinkines with people from my last employer. Happy days.

Train through, (45 minutes) a neck full of ale anda meal, double whopper, large froes and a snooze all the way back to Brough, setting an alarm for 10 minutes for before the train pulls into Brough, OR its an earbashing from the little lady when she has to come to Hull to pick me up.
