Hi all.

I'm looking at a used Touareg that matches all of my spec requirements. But - out on the test drive there were a couple of things I experienced that didn't feel right.

First off - if you kept your foot on the brake pedal with reasonable pressure then the pedal slowly drops to the floor. Is this normal?

Secondly there's a pulsing/thumping from the brake pedal when idling. You can hear it and feel it. What might be causing this?

Thanks

Something with brake cylinder? I'd look carefully into that. Two of my Touaregs never had such things.

Sounds like there might be a problem with the ABS valve block; maybe a stuck valve. Range Rovers do something similar. If so, I would not expect that to be a cheap fix.

Thanks guys. I'm going to trundle it down to a VW main dealer to diagnose it before I buy...

Good man! Touaregs are fairly expensive to run anyway, so careful dealer inspection is a must.

Just hope you don't get the manifold problem. There's a grand straight away.

I'm fairly sure that this is one of the symptoms of the well-documented VAG ABS problem.

Expensive fix!!
