Hi I'm currently in the market for an M3, a 335i or a 911 or similar sort of car and fancy doing a bit of car shopping at the weekend.

I'm considering something along the lines of the above as I finally have a decent income. I'm looking at spending less than £15,000 so obviously an E46 or a 996

Based in Hull but don't mind a bit of travel. I don't want to be going to a top end dealer and pestering them trying cars double my budget but at the same time I don't want to be dealing with low end traders who know very little about what they're selling.

Actually talking to a few high end dealers is a good place to start. They often get good cars in your price range as a trade in so if you register your interest they can always give you a call if they know you're looking. Normally they would simply pass them on through the trade or send them for auction so am sure there are some deals to be had and you can buy from a place who have the knowledge and experience with those types of cars. Might be worth a try.

Not East Yorks but not too far from York where Philip Welch is... Redline Specialist Cars in Knaresborough. Alexanders in Boroughbridge is only up the road, too.

I've tried a few M3's and think they fit the bill, its just a question of SMG or not.

Goodo

Pleased to read you're doing well. I'd be careful with a 996, myne started having bits go wrong that were rather dear to fix!

A good 996 with good history will probably be cheaper to run than an M3 - better car in my opinion and less likely to have had abusive owners - specialist cars do a bumper to bumper warranty and cars are well prepared. personally I wouldnt buy a car from a garage that didnt have a decent service set up and knowledge of what they are selling - not worth the risk
M3 is a good car mine was the SMG - I abused it daily
