I think it's a bit of an eye opener for many, especially on a site which was set up as a rumour network for pilots. Erm OK, post rumours only if you can prove everything you say in court.
Not a problem for the website admin or owners, they just hand over all the details of the poster when asked. There's no hiding from what you say on the internet unless you go to great lengths to do it.
As ever, don't say anything on the internet you wouldn't in a crowded room or in front of your partner/employer. The forum owners or having a username won't hide you. Especially if it's libellous.

Despite having been a member of the place since Danny used to send out e-mails rather than a webforum, I'm not going to be too upset if it does fall over.
It's not a patch on the site it used to be and the increasing level of nonsense from the Admins and Mods over the last few years has sucked anything interesting from it.
Originally it was set up as a way for salacious gossip and interesting rumours to be passed around. And as a way to try and get Danny into a jet rather than the 748 he was hacking around in at the time of course! Now it's nothing of the sort.
It's a pale imitation of the website it once was unfortunately.

Agreed. It seemed to go through a phase of mods/admins deleting everything and anything that they thought "might" be in any way controversial, often in connection with long running threads that had been there since before said mods had even heard of PPRuNe.......

Is it still like that?
What I'm most aggravated about is the fact that RYR have got away with bullying yet again. Through this action they've guaranteed that most people won't put up their opinion on that most horrific of companies.
Pprune used to be a place where difficult topics could be discussed safely. Now it isn't which means nothing interesting will ever be posted on there again.
Sad, but probably inevitable.

Sorry can someone elaborate what's happened?
I'm wondering this too. Anyone give us a brief rundown on what the craic is? Can't say that pprune ever really appealed to me, not really sure what it was. Although much more American dominated I've always preferred the airliners.net forums to get my daily dose of what's having in aviation circles.ben_h100 said:
Google `subpoena Pprune` and it's one of the first threads.
Basically an Irish airline has requested that an American court get the details of a number of Pprune accounts after they didn't like some of the posts. Or something like that.
Hmm interesting reading, seems to be a lot of hysteria and bluster over nothing though reading between the lines.Basically an Irish airline has requested that an American court get the details of a number of Pprune accounts after they didn't like some of the posts. Or something like that.

Just had a look, as I do enjoy a bit of internet drama. By god there is a lot of rubbish spouted on that thread. Lots of the American's who take 'Freedom of speech' far too literally as well.Edited to add

Well, I would sue his ass then. Words do not hurt you - if they do, move to Saudi Arabia.

To be fair, there are people calling him out on it too.

The most annoying thing about pprune is the way that absolutely anything posted in rumours and news gets punted off into some far flung forum meaning that threads tend to hang about and stagnate. I can check pprune once a month and the same threads will still be there from last month, with a few additional replies.
