Did some checks today, trying to sort out and tidy a few things before the MOT and I found a few curious things...typically I didn't have a camera with me though. I can't find any pictures or info online that helps...maybe one of you can.

  1. 1. Where does the 5mm hose from the middle of the fuel regulator go? Mine is approximately a foot long but just sort of flaps about behind the engine. Is this normal?
  1. 2 I have a 12mm hose coming out of the front offside air manifold. It is also about a foot long but the end is just corked with a bolt instead of going anywhere. Is this normal?
  1. 3 I have what looks like a substantial amount of bright green fluid on the rear part of the valley gasket. Any ideas where this may be leaking from? I can't seem to locate the source.

What colour screenwash do you use? It's not bright green is it?

Hmm, good question (never actually use the screenwash). There doesn't appear to be any leaks from above, I will re-check that. Could something be dripping onto the valley gasket at the front, slowly running down to the back?

The small hose to the fuel regulator pushes on to the back of the plenum where the stepper motor is.
The 12 mm hose should go into the inner wing and then down to the carbon canister behind off side headlamp.
The green water is either screen wash or you have a water leak somewhere from the engine cooling
system.
Check hoses that go around the back of the plenum chamber that supply the heater matrix.
Paul.

Hi, no, the 12mm hose comes from the inlet manifold, not the trumpet base. The carbon canister hoses are all present and correct.

The stepper motor part accepts the 5mm hose? Anyone got a photo?

Hmm, damn. I thought my coolant was blue.?. Its gonna be a looooong weekend I can tell.

Just stealing some pic off the web. The foot long hose at the front is the one I'm referring to. Does this actually go anywhere?

cool thanks for the info. So can I remove it completely or would you advise leaving it there (although I'll definitely shorten it)?

Nearside/offside. Ach living in Germany is too difficult smile Thanks.

I asked the same question about the 5 mm hose to a well known tvr garage this week.they said it was just a breather,i will try to find the connection on the stepper tomorrow

I would investigate this one a bit more. Sounds like coolant being lost somewhere. Its rare but you can get a leak between the heads and inlet manifold, but my guess would be thermostat housing, or hose joint to the thermostat housing[it can leak and eventually find its way into the valley] or even the temp probe below the therm housing. Its a convoluted affair of a long brass hex nut, and the temp probe itself so plenty of scope for leaks. Also check the heater hose as it comes into the manifold on the drivers side, there is any number of holes in the inlet manifold and coolant can leak thru these into the valley.
Finally the heater flow and return pipes at the back of the plenum just in case any one is perished slightly and is spraying out small amounts of coolant.

First job though, before any of the above, is to check the colour of your coolant in the expansion tank.
