I am thinking about going to Paris next year around July on a car spotting trip, where would be some good places to go and spot ??? Also where is the car park that most Paris Car Spotters go to which had the Agera R with the 555 Number plate in around summer time, also where is a good place to stay My budget is around £800 for the weeks stay, flights etc. One last thing this will be my first holiday without my Parents or Family!

Many Thanks
Michael Phillips

Er, If you do go to Paris there are plenty more interesting things to do than stand at the roadside ticking cars off a list.

You'll see lots of nice cars when you're wandering about.

I wasn't going to be the first to say it, but if that's the sole aim of the trip it sounds spectacularly unfulfilling smile

Firsty, are you for real?

Secondly, go to Monaco.

That is all.

Oh, and if you're anywhere near London, go on Eurostar. It is, IMHO, a far nicer way to travel and it's really cool turning up in the centre of Paris.

... But stay in France (it is literally across the street) if you want to stay within budget.

Oh and save about £10 for a pint. And expect to be in at least one drunken argument with a snobby bd...

So it's not just me that goes to places looking for, and at, unconventional things.

I'd suggest Eurostar and one of their packages.

Place Vendome is a nice location for cars, especially the car park. However...

The man speaks sense.

If you do want to get on the liquor then it's best to drink with your meals. Restaurants aren't as hidesouly overpriced as the bars.

I certainly would not go to Paris for the sake of car spotting, just keep your eyes peeled. A girl I work with was there a few weeks back, when a white Aventador and orange GT3 RS were doing laps of central Paris, both stickered up promoting the new Need for Speed game.

Well that isn't the only reason I want to go to Paris but I want to spend around a whole day / two days car spotting and the rest visiting the sites and doing some shopping biggrin

Also how easy is it to get to Monaco from Paris as I originally wanted to go to Monaco and stay there but the prices to stay there are in a next level, I live in Birmingham but I was going to get a train down to London and then the Euro Star to Paris but if I remember correctly the flights are a bit cheaper which will help a lot in saving some spending money, and Finally I don't drink so I will be saving some money there hehe

We've gone from Paris to Nice by TGV, then it's a short bus ride to Monaco (bus 100, every 15 minutes, 30 min ride, about £4 I think). Staying in Nice is much nicer, great food and more affordable. When in Monaco, the Casino has the best cars, then the parking before the yachts.

I'd suggest from experience you pre-book a seat in the TGV with a table, purchase lots of food, cheese and drinkables, then eat your way across France in luxury.

There are usually some interesting cars on the Champs Elysée, both on the road and in the big manufacturer showcases (they don't really sell cars it's all about brand building).

Last time I was there they had these two in the Merc place

I'm assuming that you're a fairly young chap.

Walk around as much as you can, taking in the sights (plenty of info on the www) and stopping for drinks at pavement cafés. Eat good food, don't go to McDonald's.

Go along to the Ritz piano bar. Quite an experience, but take plenty of cash.

With a bit of luck it won't turn into "Fear and Loathing in Paris".

There are some great value restaurants in Monaco to be fair.

And apartment rentals in Beausoleil are remarkably cheap and literally 10 feet from your doorstep is Monaco.

In my opinion, Paris isn't a great city for car spotting.

Have fun. smile

I am 18 and I think in my first holiday without my Family, I will only go as far as Paris, I don't think I could afford to stay closer to Monaco and then visit Monaco that can be something to look forward to in the future, also why not eat in McDonalds??

I always thought Paris is a good city to do a bit of car spotting in but the answers I am getting is making it sound all not that great, if I don't go Paris I will be staying in London for a week as eventually I want to move from here in Birmingham to London.

Many Thanks

Paris is a great city. Plenty to see and do. I'm not familiar with "Car Spotting" as a holiday activity, but as others have said, London has plenty of expensive vehicles if that's what you want to see.

It would be a shame to eat in McDs in a city like Paris, given the great food on offer elsewhere, even in bars. Assuming that you're not a recovering alcoholic or have some sort of moral objection, a couple of glasses of French wine accompanying it won't do you any harm.

Go to Paris and enjoy it!
