I've seen a car I want to buy in Ireland. It was originally a UK car before being exported to Ireland and transfered onto Irish plates.

What would I have to do to put it back on UK plates?

Im bringing one back next week. So far as I can tell as long as its a UK spec car (and obviously yours is) then you just have to get it insured, MOT'd and then registered. Insurance can be a PITA as I found out.

Not sure why insurance would be a problem when the car was originally a UK one? Or do you mean cover for getting it back while it's still on RoI plates?

Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland?

I assumed ROI. And many insurance companies need a UK plate to insure the car.

Interesting. I did it the other way around a couple of times, and my insurance company (AXA) never had a problem giving me a temporary insurance certificate for the UK plates until I got my RoI ones

I had to convince them to give me a temporary cover note on the VIN

Most importantly what is it?

MOT the vehicle using the chassis plate, once passed you can apply for a log book, think it'll cost around £50 or so, relatively hassle free
