Do the two lower controls for air re-circulation and directing the airflow to demist windscreen/dash vents share a fuse??

Both controls appeared to stop working today

Blower and Hot/notsohot still working in the usual manner.

From memory the heater controls interface with the heater control unit somewhere under the dash but there are two multiway connectors connecting the heater panel that may be making a poor connection. You may be able to reach them from the gear stick aperture otherwise you will have to lift the whale tail. No doubt someone else on here will have clearer instructions.
