I know it's completely down to personal preference and obviously it has it's benefits, but I just don't know how anyone can sorn their chim over the winter months. I've been without mine for a week now while it got a new hood and I woke up at half six this morning excited about going to pick him up! Haha! I couldn't cope with months of, ahem, cold turkey over the winter.

When I used to have my cerb I used it right through the winter too. They're definitely meant to be driven. Today was fantastic. Bit of a drive cross country, bit of motorway, gorgeous weather, roads weren't too bad and I have to say my new hood, by Dave the trimmer is absolutely top notch!! Couldn't recommend him highly enough. Thanks dave!

Would love to be using mine over winter, really would. Thing is I paid quite well over the odds for it, being a Fernies car and only then sub 15k miles racked up (as at June 2010) so the pasting that winter roads will dish out I just can't justify it.

Actually often wish I'd bought a ~£9k car instead and use as it should be, mods and all. Still, taxing in spring and pushing it out blinking into daylight after hibernation is a VERY special day.

I am doing man maths lately, thinking of subtituting an S (love the look of those) for my runabout Moggy. All I bloody care about cars, my old house wants to fall down around my ears but what do I spend on instead? Will I ever grow up? Already know the answer to that one.

Great to know I'm not the only one, drove mind down A5 last night to London, pulled up at The Ace Cafe, 11.10pm. Place was closing, how sad, had to grab a coffee and drive back, 160 miles round trip with a grin on my face, best sat night for months????!!! Just drive her and replace old bits as you go, rolling restoration, least you get a reliable car eventually, so easy to repair, riggers will go one day just be prepared. Happy larry here!

I suspect I'll be selling my S in the spring, I never seem to use it now the Chimaera is on the scene. It's a fab car but the Chimaera is just "more"..it's hard to say "more what" but I'm enjoying the Chimaera so much the S barely gets a look in.

Lovely drive out last night, the roads were crisp and slightly slippy, I really enjoyed the back end sliding gracefully out when prompted. I really enjoyed being a complete antisocial d*ck at the traffic lights and getting the back end to "waggle" as we pulled away.

Sometimes I worry a bit that I am letting the side down and bringing TVRs into disrepute.... but I am too busy having fun!

Mine's been SORN since London Thunder. Just can't get my sh*t together to get it back on the road, and baulk at the expense of servicing, taxing and insuring it for the few times I might get to drive it. A combination of ill health, overwork and having one too many in the family for a two seater means opportunities to use the car are limited. I think I only hang on to it in the hope that when retirement comes along and our son goes off to Uni I might get to use it again. The risk is that my faculties may have deteriorated to the degree that I won't be able to.

I can't bear the though of selling it though, after 17 years.

I know it's gotta be hard if you can't get the time to drive them, and it is a lot of expense for if you don't get chance. I can totally see why you're hanging onto it tho victor. I'm just so glad I get chance to use mine as much as possible. Even put the Christmas tree in, well kind of in, the car today as those of you on Facebook have probably seen. I really do need to clean the car tho. Does anyone who might live in north London know where there's a place with a self service power washer????

There is a small roundabout on my way home that you have to go all the way round, and I really have to resist the urge to get the tail out on the exit in 2nd gear..... I don't resist in the slightest!

ps you have to rev them at the lights it is a well known fact... smile

There's nothing like going for a top-down blast on a crisp winter's day; mist hanging over the fields, smoke rising from the passing cottages... Perfect. cloud9

Bucolic ... good word! smile

Nah, I've enjoyed that in all the weekend toys I've owned, but not yet extended to a phaeton.

At the risk of getting all twee again, I think there is something particularly special about the countryside on a cold, frosty morning. And no better way of shattering that stillness than with a TVR.

Took mine to Tescos today - power slide right turn out of the gate, huge twitch crossing the mini roundabout at 30 with my foot down, caught the rear and smiled all the way to the shops.

Came back the scenic route, via Bristol and Moscow . Collected the shopping from all over the boot floor and went in for lunch

Nice work. Not driven the Chimaera much in the winter (actually, not driven it much full stop due to forces outside of my control...) but some of the best drives I had in my S3 were slithering around on winter roads. Even with barely more than half the power it could be quite entertaining.

Ha ha ha. Me too, seems expensive on fuel mainly cos I take every detour I can on every journey, had to do a u turn, slight turn of the wheel blip of gas, half a sec later facing other direction. Brilliant.
