Cyclocross newbie.

Had my first cyclocross race today at the age of 41. What a laugh, I'd recommend it to anyone, 35 minutes of toiling through mud and dead vegetation while being lapped many, many times. I didn't fall off, and didn't come last either, so I'm happy.
Bike's filthy, I'm filthy, the van's filthy, everybody was head to toe in mud and doing it for fun.
Every cyclist should try it at least once.

I've been reading a few blogs about CX and really like the sound of it, quite fancy maybe having a bash myself

I've been reading a few blogs about CX and really like the sound of it, quite fancy maybe having a bash myself
I'm game
From what I've seen there seemed to be a fair few events on so shouldn't be hard to find something
I'll have a better look
Cyclocross is brilliant fun, it's been the highlight of my years for years. An hour of hell but there is always someone to have a dice with, and the comradeship is always high compared to other disciplines.
Want to find a race check out the cyclocross section at the british cycling website, look on the calendar find one near, pays your money and have the best giggle you have had on a bike.
I'm racing at Winterton tomorrow, and I don't think the place could be any better named, it's going to be baltic, but that's ok as it's a balti for tea

I was hoping it would stay freezing for today's race instead of the mudfest we had, the Juniors churned it all up in time for the Seniors race, there wasn't one section of hard ground on the course. At least I didn't put any wear on the big ring.
I'm just back from the curry house, had a jalfrezi myself.

I should be at Todd, although I'm not sure how competitive I'll be, my cyclocross buddy married a Devon girl. The Devon girl's brother has a cider microbrewery. Is cider good for stamina?

Very messy day at Todmorden today, fell in the mire twice.
It seems to be that the worse the conditions, the more people seem to enjoy it, so today was a right laugh, cold, rain, windy and mud everywhere. I must admit that I enjoyed it as well.

There's a certain joy to be had by getting in that state!
Bloody slippy! Some of the smaller lads managed to ride it, but I only managed half way, all I did after that was spin the back wheel. My cleats were full of mud as well, took a while to get them back into the pedals. Worse was they wouldn't always come out either, so over I went. Had a laugh though, that's the main thing.
Not sure when the next outing is, there's a couple of Go-Cross events and the Mystery Madison to look forward to, then on with the slicks I suppose until the summer season starts. Might have a crack at Hit The North if I can get one of the late entries.
Anything happening over your end Benji? Sounds like I'm based in North Lincs most of next year, stopping outside Immingham.

Sounds like Todmorden was good fun.No we are all done now till the presentation on the 20th, which is a handicap race round a farm. Just keeping training in prep for the upcoming mountain bike season which hopefully soon will have some dates.
