someones nicked 5th gear?!

Can anyone help! went for a ride out yesterday, can honestly say no blasting or 'speedy moves' started trip home 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th perfectly fine but it was as if 5th gear never exsited, lever over to the right but wouldnt budge into gear. stopped the car and went into reverse ok, carried on but again no 5th. any info would be gratefully received!

It's a commen fault I'm afraid. Need to visit your dealer.....

silly question, is it drivable? still have four gears

no one seems to be on here when i need help!!! would it be covered by warranty?

The linkage for 5th has slipped down the box, common fault on those boxes, a lot of people say it's because you are asked to put it into 5th before reverse, use other gears too, 3rd or 4th or 2nd to spread the use.

Since it's a gearbox fault it will depend on the warranty cover you have, check your paperwork. Some level will cover it, some won't.
