i've never really been to see any motorsport before, but am trekking to Donington for the BTCC in a few weeks.

So a few questions for the veterans if i may:

1. Where is the best place to watch?

2. Can i get tickets on the gate?

3. What time should i aim to arrive for?

Ta!

Best place is between the Redgate and the Craner Curves, on the outside of the track. You'll see the cars come down the main straight from halfway down, past the pits exit into Redgate, then past you down the Craner Curvers, through the old hairpin up under Starkeys Bridge and just lose them as they go through McLeans but then see them again as they go from McLeans exit to Coppice.

You get to see a lot of the track from there.

Looking down to the old hairpin is good, but you can walk around all the infield and most of the outfield (depending how fit your feeling) Sitting at the bottom of cranners on the outfield is good (but quite a long walk) depending which track they are using (if it's the full GP circuit) sitting on the grass on the exit of the esses is good (one of the only places without cicken wire ), and so is standing on the exit to the melbourne hairpin (accessed from the paddock, on the left of the petrol station)

Personally I like standing at Hollywood as you can see all the action at Redgate, then down the hill through Craner, the Old Hairpin, Starkey's and up to Mclean's. You lose the cars for a second as the enter Craner, but you will see all the action as they pile into each other as they exit!
