Why don't people who service their own cars video it and put it up on youtube? You wouldn't have to show the whole thing, just a few seconds of the most important bits. Surely a car would be worth more if there's a video of it's cambelt being changed rather than relying on the seller's word that it's been done. You could maybe set up a youtube account "X123 ABC Service file" and have videos of all the work that's been done to it.

Wouldn't it also be a good idea for a new garage (maybe specialist) trying to build up a good reputation to do it as well? I did a brief google but couldn't find anyone doing this.

Yep, that's just what I want when I'm trying to service my car; trying to make sure that I don't get the camera all oily whilst trying to get a decent in-focus and well-lit shot of replacing some parts in a dark engine bay.

I don't think anyone sane would want to watch a video of a car being serviced.

Imagine how long 'car shopping' would take??

Took a couple of digi pics with the front covers, tensioners and belts removed from my car, that and the receipts for new parts gives some reassurance it's been done.

I have an image folder of almost everything that I do to my car because I get bored half way through, start drinking tea and upload photos to facebook to try and put off carrying on smile

No need! In my case a still picture tells the whole story. An individual puddle of oil on the driveway for each oil change I've carried out.....
