Hello

I have recently picked my my m5... have to say that I am loving it at the moment.
20k ish miles and lots of toys!
But I just have a couple of quick questions for the experts around
It has a BMW AUC warranty on it (i bought it from someone that had purchased it from a dealer and then sold it before the yr was up)

So in short has anyone successfully claimed for the following

1. blistering/flaking on the 167 alloys
2. condensation in the rear lights (both of them and one even has a small amount of moss)
3. The exhaust tips are starting to flake and the finish has come off at the end

any stories or advice welcome

otherwise what a car!

cheers

1. May have had a wet paint refurb, in which case it will flake off. Pay £300 or so and have them powder coated properly.

2. Not normal for condensation but the rim around the edge does trap rain water, which is hard to shift. In turn this can cause algae to form and then you'll have a job to shift it. I shifted mine with a jet wash (not too close else youll strip the paint). The light units are sealed so there is no risk of a jet wash forcing water into where the LEDs or bulbs are. If however the moisture is inside the unit then you need to see your dealer and push for a warranty solution.

3. Odd that the tips have perished. Are the backboxes standard?

thanks for the reply

1. i will have to think about getting something done to sort them out properly... not sure how good the 167s look power coated though?

2. i will have to give this a go... the algae is right on the edge of the light as you say, so will give it a crack with the jet wash.

3. yes they are completely standard back boxes

1 and 3 may be considered trim/cosmetic and not covered by the warranty. Water in the lights may well be covered. Moss/green stuff on the *outside* will not be.
