I've seen Reflex Purple and Paradise Purple (which is my current favorite) but are there any other purples on Cerberas out there?

I have "halcyon heather" mix of blue/purple doesn't show in the photo in my profile as it was a very crap rainy day. Been too busy driving it to take a decent shot since. I've never heard or seen of another this colour. Anybody out there or is this a one off. I have seen 2 chimaeras this colour though.

colour war mode
of course purple is the best colour

Rolex blue looks a teensy bit redder and lighter than Techno violet, I suppose.

Does it matter?!

Techno violet's that awful garish colour that M3s used to be done in (and I'm not talking the luuurverly Estoril Blue, in case you're wondering...)

On the other hand, Rolex blue's a really nice colour - deep & rich. I've seen a couple of Tuscans in it, and it even made it to my shortlist of colours for the respray. (Currently debating whether I should actually go for black instead of copper...)

Righto, thanks for the info mate. We'll get it resprayed then, since you don't like it.

It's not garish. It's quite a dark purple - see photo. Maybe it looks garish on M3s, it certainly doesn't on the Cerb!!

It got my vote, SGirl. (See posting above.) Does it have a charcoal or black interior?

Thanks LA.

No, ours has a grey interior. Nicely understated.

I like is SGirl, a more distinguished and less shouty purple than some others.

Mind you it does look like a dark blue to me rather than purple, but I'm 85% colour-blind so don't take offence!

Have to say, been lusting after the Rolex Blue car at Fernies...absolutely gorgeous colour in real life, and Portland Grey inside, a great match.

Sadly too many notes for my bank manager to say yes!

Just what I think as I glance back for one last look before turning the garage light off.

Sorry - didn't mean it like that. Agree that it looks nice on your car - no issue there at all... I think it must fade really badly on the Beemers - every one that I've seen (from about 1995 or so) has looked really light and low-quality.

Edited to add: having looked at "new" photos of it before 10 years of Sun-damage on Google, it definitely looked an entirely different colour from the cars I've seen in it after a decade.

Go for it. Techno-violet is a great colour. If you are close to Leeds, there is a M3 for sale at Red-line racing in Pool just north of Leeds, I think its in that colour, if you want to look and see what its like in the Flesh/metal.

J_S_G,

Are you sure you're not mistaking techno-violet for Daytona Violet?

Two different E36 M3 colours.

I think the Cerbera looks great in most colours .

Mine is AML Highland Purple (see profile) - not dissimilar to Techno Violet (looks bluer in pics than in the flesh) - although the front looks like two tone with white, there are so many stone chips on it!

cheers

S'okay, I forgive you!

It does look lighter on BMWs, not sure why? It's definitely quite dark on the Cerb, and the touch-up paint we got from BMW is also quite dark. Maybe there's an issue with the finishing on the BMWs? I don't know. Ours certainly doesn't seem to have faded.

I don't mind what shade of purple we have though, really. I always wanted a purple car!
