Vantage Roadster 4.3 or 4.7

I am going to buy a Vantage roadster next year as a keep forever car. With two young children it will not be a daily driver. What i need to know is do i stretch myself and get a 4.7 car or will i be happy with the 4.3. Has anyone made this decision and if so are they happy with their choice. Also on the AM used car locator i have seen 2009 cars with the 4.3 engine. I was under the impression that the update was late 2008. I would really appreciate as much input as possible as once i have the car i am looking to keep it.

It's not just the engine, there were a raft of improvements. As a keeper, get the 4.7, the performance differential is marginal, it's just a better resolved car.

Some 4.3s sat around at the dealers unregistered and are therefore later.

Yep he's right again!

Though as a keeper I would say an S is a better bet as all the niggles on the 4.3 & 4.7 are sorted

If he's stretching to get a 4.7, an S is probably out of reach. Also no manual option if that's what he wants...

True but I "stretched" to a 4.7 and now look where I am I wish I'd just gone straight to the end game.

Same here. Should have bought a One-77 and be done with it

Any way my point was the S is better keeper than the 4.7 or 4.3

I had the same dilemma. I went for a 4.3, then upgraded the exhaust, cats with bamford and now have the same performance as a 4.7. It will have a twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel next year, so better pick up than a 4.7 and saved quite a lot on the price difference. If its a keeper, then don't let residual value get in the way. Just an option.
If you can afford the 4.7, do it, then have a word with Bamford Rose.

Yes the days of buying new toys with no need to save up are behind me !! Has anyone seen the price of new kids shoes recently. So a Vantage S is beyond my finances without resorting to a dreaded loan. The only other option would be to reduce the value of my daily driver by buying a cheaper car, not sure about this as i do a few miles and take pleasure in my creature comforts.
