Who has been on a December Blat?
Discussion
I did, this sunny weekend in South France. Up to Gourdon and then even further inland along the Route Nationale 85 towards Castellane. Roads dry and clear all the way. I was enjoying it so much that I went well above the snow line which was lower than normal from the mid week storms. After getting a little chilly I turned round and less than hour later and I'm on the coast road again and could see people sunbathing on the beach. Back in the garage, a quick wipe underneath and round the wheel rims and now put to bed. I’m kicking myself for not taking the camera.

Yep, did 90 miles yesterday and 125 miles today through Oxfordshire and Berkshire's finest rural GLFs
It was bloomin' cold (no windscreen just the aeroscreen) and very slippery but that just made it more fun, especially with the LSD doing it's thing. And the car was satisfyingly filthy when I got back!

Can be surprisingly quiet, more so if Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday so everyone takes the Monday as holiday......Sunday night/Mnday morning can be real 28 Days Later motoring. Granted it's not a fast blat, but it's a great way to sightsee and London's a great place to be in the run p to Christmas.

Annoyingly no.
Had Friday off work and went over to see the Caterham in storage to do a few things.
Crisp, cold but dry day with beautiful clear blue skies.
Would have been the perfect time for a blat and now really see why people don't SORN over the winter when the odd day like that presents itself.

Had a run out to the Yorkshire Moors yesterday, wrapped up nicely! It was nearly a non starter when the throttle decided to stick and not return to idle very quickly. A bit of wd40 and fiddling with the cable sorted it and off we went. Pretty good weekend for it really, nothing silly just a steady(ish) run out with lots of clear roads!
If the weather is dry and there isn't too much salt on the roads then I often take the car out through the winter. My favourite is going out on Christmas Day at around 11am. Anyone who is going anywhere has generally got there and so the roads are EMPTY. And I mean really empty. Three years ago I was out for 90 minutes and did not see another car on the road in either direction. I normally find one or two that need overtaking..
Just remember there is a lot less grip this time of year and to drive accordingly.
