Found out about 24 hours ago that Kraftwerk were playing Sonar next year.
Having been to Sonar a few years ago - saw the Chems, Jamie Lidell as part of the night festival and some good clubs due to being in Barca at the time, as well as Miss Kitten DJing at one of the beach parties late on Saturday night - and being a huge Kraftwerk fan I just had to go.
So, we've booked the flights and found a terrific apartment. Just waiting for Tuesday when the two day passes go on sale.
Can't wait. My wife has never been to Sonar before, or Barcelona. But she has seen Kraftwerk (at Manchester international Festival) a couple of years ago where they did the same 3D set - albeit in a velodrome accompanied by Team GB cyclists when playing Tour de France. Difficult to top.
Anyway, can't wait.
Sonar is what festivals should be about. None of this rainy, tented, flooding; ankle deep in other people's s**t watching bands in the freezing cold in a field miles from anywhere.
Sonar is a really cool city, in the summer, with beaches.
Full line up still TBC but a few bands are confirmed.
