Series III E-Type - What Tyres!?
Discussion
Hi all.
My 1972 S3 E-Type has been off the road for a while and over the winter it'll be being prepared for road use again ready for spring/summer 2013. It's only covered 28,000 miles, less than 1000 in the time I've owned the car, so I've never had to put tyres on it. Before its use next year though its something I'll be looking to do and I wondered if any E-Type owners or experts had any advice on which tyres work best with the car.
It's driven pretty sympathetically in all honesty and I don't foresee it being taken to the limits of adhesion very often, if ever! But as with all my other cars I'd like to make sure I've got the best rubber on it since you're only as good as your tyres!
Any advice or experiences would be welcomed!
Much obliged.
Tom.

The original tyres on your car were Dunlop SP SPORT known at the time as Aquajets. These are still available and are quite superb. They give terrific adhesion in the wet due to the tread design.
I have a customer with a '71 XJ6 manual and it has just been fitted with a new set; they are absolutely spot on.
