2013 SL63 Queries
Discussion
Hi,
a mate has just taken delivery of one to replace his 2010 SL63, a few queries.
a) power seems markedly down on the last 63 despite it having the PP, its only 60 miles old so may well be some kind of performance limit until its run in.. anyone heard of this?
b) exhausts are very quiet after initial fruity start up, assuming some type of exhaust vacuum bypass / fuse pull bypass will help here.. any suggestions on where to look?
He's obv going to contact his dealer, however wanted to see if anyone had any inside scoop also.
Cheers

Hi Jamie, the new twin turbo V8 SL 63 is considerably faster than the old NA unit, even at 60 miles this should be obvious. There is no factory imposed limiter when running in.a mate has just taken delivery of one to replace his 2010 SL63, a few queries.

Exhaust, change the whole exhaust with a Kleemann unit [should not affect the warranty],
this will up the power and give lot better sound.
Mark.

I think the above points to there being a potential issue with this unit. Mate is getting the dealer on to it, says it feels like an SL500, not a rip snorting 63.
I had a quick play in our demo last week, it's only on delivery mileage and I've got to say the power delivery was still brutal - it felt a fair bit quicker than my C63 Coupe.
It seems strange that his isn't feeling that quick; would be interested to hear what the dealer comes back with.
I agree about the noise too, sounds great on a cold-start, but after that it's far too muted.
