Anyone got any suggestions for a full length roof rack for my D2?

I regularly carry building materials (wood, acro props, sheet material etc), and canoes/bikes so need something without a bar across the back, and ideally that follows the contour of the roof but has the front cross bar level with the main platform. IYSWIM smile

I also have sunrooves, and an irritating 5 year-old who occasionally opens them...

Patriot is what you want, as they're a bit modular and you can add or remove the side rails as you see fit.
The only snag is, you'll probably have to sell the Disco itself to fund one. They're ridiculously expensive, another case of a brand cornering the market then squeezing prices.
They do pop up in the 'bay occasionally, but have usually been on an exped and drilled full of holes.
As for the sunroof issue, a bit of fuse removal will help.

If you already have roof-rails fitted, all you can do is extend the rails and use the cross bars. If not, you have a couple of options for racks:

Genuine / Thule bars. They are the simple ones that go across the width of the roof but due to the step in the roof-line, the feet are extra long. This would give you a flat platform for 'V' bars, upright or whatever you want to use. They are fairly light weight, simple to fit & remove and should give you clearance for your sun-roof.

Safety-Devices. They used to produce a full length rack for the D2, produced in 2x variants for cars with or without a sun-roof. Thing is, these racks are very heavy and a pig to remove, so you will take a hit on the MPG if you're not using it all the time.

However, Safety-Devices stopped production a little while ago. They have restarted production of some bits but I'm not sure what. Your best bet would be to look them up and give them a shout.

Oh... The other way of dealing with the sun-rooves is to pull the fuse. wink

The rooves are manual... But I could remove the winder from the rear one.

I have roof rails, but have heard the extensions aren't really up to the job. So I'm currently using a pair of raised van type bars, which stay on full time as I use them regularly but without planning.

And the Safety Devices rack is the sort of thing I'm thinking of, the Patriot ones are completely flat and look pap IMO.

The roof rails are useless at carrying anything heavier than the crossmembers.
