I bought my car at 5 years old (the car, that is) and got what I thought was a decent deal of 2 years return-to-invoice cover with Click4Gap. It's now 7 years old and they won't renew because it's too old.

Does anyone cover cars of this age?

I bought it for £5k, it's now worth about £2k. It's not critical but it'd be nice to have.

Why would you bother?

Your effectively betting £x (the premium) that you'll write the car off. It'd be more fun to put it on a horse...

I paid £69 for the aforementioned cover - possibly less since I did it through Quidco. If I crashed it tomorrow that £69 would give a £3k return, which I think is quite a good product. I also can't necessarily afford like-for-like replacement.

My car is worth more to me (because of availability of good examples, and it being a known quantity) than it would be on the market. I could certainly get back to the same place for less than £5k, but £2k would not cut it.
