Boxster 3.2 S Facelift 986

After a long search and a few decision changes I decided on a Boxster S as the car I wanted - I looked at the S2000 and the Z4 but both lacked the evocative name and the solid well built feel of the Boxster. I am not a big fan of the standard dash so one of my must have options was extended leather and hopefully the aluminium pack. I was also after Litronic (xenons), 18"s and heated sport seats. After much research I decided the facelift car was the one I wanted as it had the glass rear screen and the more powerful 260bhp engine. As with any car purchase there will have to compromises in spec so the car I found had a lot of the desirable options but was missing the 18"s and Litronic I wanted. I figured both were ready available on the market if I really couldnt live without them...
So here is the car in the traditional Polar Silver with Red leather.
I picked the car up on Saturday and had a lovely two hour drive home via Southend-on-Sea. Sunday afternoon was spent with a wide array of detailing products making her as clean and well protected for winter as possible. I had to machine polish out a few scratches but the car is in excellent overall condition. Today she sailed through an MOT and I got to have a good luck underneath - very pleased with what I saw as the condition of the car is excellent underneath too. It drives so nicely that you'd swear it was newer. Overall I am extremely pleased and the better half even approves

I should not say this, but i actually enjoy driving my 986 3.2s more than my 911 and am seriously thinking about selling the 911 in the spring....

I have owned a Cayman, 997 and 996 C4S before so I know the brand and can honestly say the 986 is still a very good steer. I found it quite hard to find one with low mileage and a satin finish still on the seats. I t honestly doesnt have a single squeak or rattle - reminds me of the pre-production Cayenne we went in around the 4x4 circuit at Silverstone - literally it didnt make a single noise and was the first time I developed a respect for the Cayenne.I should not say this, but i actually enjoy driving my 986 3.2s more than my 911 and am seriously thinking about selling the 911 in the spring....

its fine to say how you feel - I just always think some things are best left unsaid. As you very kindly put it - there are other areas to compliment ahead of the derogatory comments. We used to have a similar car, one of the things I noticed when looking was all the Boxster / 911 dashboards in any other colour than black did indeed have several shades of blue / red / brown / tan etc. Did not understand why they did it, but maybe when new the colours were not faded and maybe a lot closer in shade?? Did push us towards black, but actually your interior I quite like in an insane way! If you are going for bold, be really bold!! Hope you enjoy the S, I unfortunately did not "click" with mine, just don't read my garage profile... :-)

When sitting in the car you would not notice the variation in colour. What was the issue with yours that made you not click with it?
Great colour combination. Its classic for a Porsche to be silver with red and so much more interesting than black.
Will look great with 18" Carrera wheels. Well worth the investment and not too detrimental to the ride so long as it doesnt have the MO30 suspension. I owned a 2.7. I had sold my 996 and was searching for the perfect red manual Ferarri 360 and bought a 2001 2.7 as a stop gap. It was excellent (bar the awful black interior that made it feel so small inside).
