My car has started squealing redface(

On idle it's fine, but on revving or accelerating there's like a chirpy kind of squeal from the engine bay. Would it be my water pump on it's way out? The belt looks to be in good condition and is tight.

I've got a lot of problems, expect a barrage of new threads started by me wink

As always, this is the best place for any TVR advice.

My bet is that the belt itself is chirruping.

However, you can eliminate the bearings by slipping the belt off and rotate each ancillary by hand to see if it feels stiff or rough. Put a spanner onto the tensioner pulley and lever it to slacken off the tension, then you can simply slip the belt off.

This video shows how to remove/refit the belt. Note that if you've got aircon you need to stand on the other side and push downwards on the pulley instead of pulling up. I'd recommend taking a picture of the routing of the belt first!

Is yours a "Serpetine" engine?

Check the tensioner pulley itself, bearing failure fairly common.

Yes, mine's a Serp engine. Will it just feel rough when I turn it?
