After a lot of thought and having viewed and driven a few examples I finally took the plunge and have paid a deposit on a 2010 Sport Tech RC in metropolitan grey. I’m picking the car up on Saturday.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who provided advice and answers to my questions.

I’m looking forward to getting out and about and using the car as much as possible. Given our climate I’ll probably get the car undersealed in the near future to keep any rust at bay.

All the best.

Good luck. Bought my first 5 recently. Jan/Feb have been way to cold though. 1 hrs tinkering & im froze.
Have already started taking bits off it to improve performance.
Does yours have aircon? Im still puzzled as to why an open top sports car sold in the latitudes its sold in would need air conditioning?.

About an hour after you are stuck on the M6 in 25 degrees full sunshine, and sweat is running from your scalp, down to your bum crack. Thats when you decide buying the one without aircon was a poor decision. hehe

Been there, done that, swapped the low spec Mk1 with a Mk2.5 with AC.

Also helps to clear condensation from the windows much quicker.

Yes, the car has A/C. It's been great fun over the last 3 months. Can't wait for summer!
