After unsuccessfully finding a deal to El Gouna for the dates I can do, Sharm el sheikh seems to be the way forward.
I have found one package so far which listed the 'Savita Resort & Spa'. But after reading some of the trip advisor reports, I'm reluctant.

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Sharm (preferably beach resort) to stay in? Food that won't make you sick, no cock roaches, no thieving pool attendants, no loud music playing by the pool. Just somewhere relaxing and clean. Or am I asking of too much?

Thanks in advance for any helpful recs.
Cad

We're off to the Baron Resort soon, comes highly recommended but won't be able to confirm it till we get back!

We got back from Sensatori a few weeks ago and would highly recommend it. Once there we checked out a number of other hotels (^^^including the Baron) and the Sensatori was by far the best. Is it a family holiday or just for a couple?

Look into the Jaz Mirabel Beach. We went there last year and loved it, we're going again next year smile

Hyatt Regency is good - as is Royal Savoy (expensive, especially for Egypt).

Take Yakult for a couple of weeks before you go!

Avoid the Radisson Blu if you want any form of peace and quiet. Went a month ago-total ste and relentless noise everywhere

I stayed in the Ritz Carlton resort - nice hotel and rooms.

The 'all inclusive' food wasn't up to much but you could pay extra to go into a better restaurant in the resort (kind of defeats the purpose of all inclusive really!)

If you're feeling lazy golf carts come pick you up from your room, which is kind of like an apartment complex, and take you to the pool, reception, etc.

The drink in the hotel was quite expensive, good pool, a shop on the resort, etc

Apart from the cheap meals i'd recommend it

I've been to Sharm twice. In 2009, we stayed in the Kiroseiz which is opposite the casino-got a severe stomach big there that lasted about 5 weeks after I got back which wasn't fun!

The second time was in May this year when we stayed in the Jaz Mirabel Park which was very good. Like most hotels in Sharm, the entertainment is dire but the diving more than made up for it.

You weren't there between the 6th and 14th of May were you? That's when we were there...

Going the Beach this year as they seem to have stopped doing the Park.

We left on the evening of the 7th. With your back to the main restaurant, our room was the closest on the right hand side on the top floor. The place was that quiet, we probably walked past each other repeatedly! We went down to Naama Bay a few times and couldn't get over how quiet the place was. Obviously the Arab Spring didn't help with the tourism side but I can't help but feel the constant hassling of tourists to go into shops/restaurants stops people from going back more often. I got told to foxtrot oscar when I told them no thanks in arabic...

Being in the RN, I've spent more than my fair share of time in the Middle East and lived in Bahrain for the best part of a year so I'm used to the hassle. My wife felt very uncomfortable with it though. We went to Fuerteventura at the end of October for a week and the difference in attitude couldn't have been more different. No hassle at all but the downside is that diving in the Canaries isn't good (so I've been led to believe).
