Yes you're a driving God, but some people are s
t at driving. If a computer can help prevent them crashing into me then that's a good thing. (i.e. they're driving this Volvo which hits the brakes for them, because they're a mong who'd otherwise run me down.)mrmr96 said:

t at driving and driving is nothing more than a method of transporting people from A to B with minimal fuss.I really worry that all this stuff will end up being mandatory on everything, then there will be no point to motoring any more.
At the moment, keeping all this stuff on Volvos makes sense - it makes it easy to spot a s
t driver.Twincam16 said:

Like me ,
t driver.I deliberately pull out in front of chav cars to test them and aggravate them , because I know there is a chav tosser driving it,
and of course you can't get hurt when driving a Volvo

"The computerised vehicles will be fitted with high-tech sensors and will 'refuse to be steered' into other objects."
Doesn't this actually sound totally unsafe? You want to avoid an full frontal accident on a motorway so have to steer away but there is another car to the side of you or more commonly some a set of traffic cones. The car would refuse to let you get out of the way and instead deploy all airbags while you nicely crash into the back of someone possibly killing them?!
Volvo have the lost the plot I think especially as all this extra tech will make the cars very costly and I don't know of anyone who wants all these distractions in the car. It'll be flashing and beeping at you all the time - I hated BLIS in my car and turned it off.

It's like pretty much everything these days - we are putting technology in place for the lowest common denominator; AKA Mr & Mrs Brain dead mong, who shouldn't have a licence in the first place.
Technology is great, ABS, Airbags, even systems which help with braking in an emergency, BUT at the end of the day, in an accident situation, a moderately intelligent (awake) adult needs to be able to make split decisions about the bigger picture.
I cant help thinking if Volvo (or anyone else) make a car that cant crash (seems impossible to me), then they would be setting themselves up for being sued.

I think the plan is that the Volvo avoids the full frontal crash by automatically maintaining a safe distance and stopping in it, rather than driving badly enough that you have to choose which crash to have.Doesn't this actually sound totally unsafe? Proof Volvo know what they are doing when they do crash too. Would not want to be in the Lexus..
I personally think their aesthetic design has improved greatly in the last few years & for day to day driving a good choice.

Isn't this going to make people driving along not looking or planning ahead even worse because "the car does all that"? :/

What about a sytem that electrocutes the driver via the steering wheel if it detects them browsing facebook or driving at 50 everywhere?
