Oh well it has been 1 month since I have had to fork out on my car...

Last week it was in my garage on the optimate all week. I used it on Saturday for a 20 minute round trip to B&Q and did not re connect the charger when I got back. This morning I went to start it, a couple of turns then followed by clicks.

Is it lack of charge? Is it a dead battery not holding it's charge? Or is it worse? The year I am having with it possibly all the above..

I had a similar experience this morning. I used my 996 carrera yesterday, but this morning I was treated to a few clicks and a dead battery.
My Porsche battery is approaching 4 years old, so I have bought a replacement Bosch silver battery from Eurocarparts for just over £80. Collected it this morning and will fit it tonight.

It would be worth checking all battery leads are securely attached and earth strap etc.. Get someone to do a battery condition check before buying a new one, but some batteries do not like running low if unused for long periods of time.

Could well be a battery, but you would also want to check the alternator charge rate.

With the car running put a multimeter (volt meter) across the possitive and negative terminals of the battery.

If the alternator is working correctly, you will see at least 13.3v with all consumers on (heated rear screen, lights, air con etc).

Don't buy a Porsche battery unless you have Porsche warranty, the Bosch silver top is much better!
