Been going to the same garage for Mot,s for the last 5 years.I always take the car away and repair it myself if anything needs done then return it for the retest withing the allowed 10 day period. Now in the past i've taken the car before MOT is due,'when' it was due and 'after' it was due and have always been allowed the 10 days to repair it and take it back.
This year however it's different,MOT was due on the 7th of this month, took it up today and it failed on a couple of things, thought i had nothing better to do than take it away, repair it as usual and return it but he said no,i 'have' to have it repaired by 12 0'clock on the night of the 7th,the MOT expiry date??If not i get a retest fee? What's changed?

As far as I know, just the rules at your particular garage. I might be wrong though.

Think just his policy too, took my car for its mot last wednesday (3 days before the expirary date) it failed on something easily fixable though, he said i had ten days to bring it back ( i got a retest that day - but thats beside the point)
