1979 vauxhall royale 2.8 straight 6

That is lovely!! I've still got a soft spot for the older vx/opel barges.
Nearly owned one of these on two occasions when they were new-ish.
The first one looked gorgeous in burgundy with matching velour, and it drove really well too, until the oil pressure light started flickering at idle which kind of put me off.
The second one was temptingly cheap until I turned up to see it. It was black and looked like it had been cleaned with a brillo pad. Vendor was a string vest wearing Irish builder who had clearly used the boot and interior as his works van, it was wrecked. Idled at about 2000rpm too, which made for an interesting drive as it was an auto... Rat-look 25 years too soon I reckon!

turboblue,oa,dbdb,ruff'n'smov,99t,rumple,rigga im goin to take the seats and carpet out so they dont get dirty and ruined with my mucky feet but also for me to check the floor, i have however pulled out the rear seats mmmm that was like krypton factor as i didnt have a clue atall how to get them out but then i worked out you have to pull out 2 metal clips on the rear headrests pull them out then turn the plastic bits they sit in which then lets you remove the rear seats after much swearing lol.
as per has the usual rot inner wings etc but i expected this (pics to follow) im goin to repaint the inner wings right to the bottom so this will mean engine out as want to do this right not goin to be a quick fix takes time, all my mates say get it welded and on the road na i want to spend a bit time fixing and cleaning the inner wings and give them a good paint now one thing im not good with is spray paint
not one of my strong points but i have seen kits where i can paint with a brush mmm we will c wat happens .
one of the wings has a bad bit in it but just by luck there was a spare wing in the boot and the same colour and this is the side that has to be removed for welding anyway i have more pics of when i viewed the car before buying but will take more of rear seats removed and the floor.

Tis a clean car ..... thinking how cars have shrunk over the years, just from vaux/opel around that time there was the vx/490, senator, royale, viceroy monza ....... nova when it arrived was like a dwarfs car by comparision.
I think there was a sort of revolution in the early 80's. The Nova, Astra, 80's Cavalier, and Carlton were very different from the previous designs. cheers for the replys i do however have another car sitting as i bought another car that was on here a good while back a 1980 vauxhall royale black, the guy was restoring it when the body work was scratched during a football game that would have put anyone off i was goin to do a good bit of work to this but when i worked out paint job, all the welding it needs it was goin to cost far to much to fully restore so this car will be my parts doner also this gives me a spare engine and box.
it does seem a shame to break the black car but i can only restore 1 as wont get much time during the summer as im a keen racing pigeon fancier so racing may take up most of my time but i want the car done before the summer well wat we can call summer lol got a few wee things im goin to do during the weekend so will post some pics during this.
