Living with an E55 AMG?

Sorry if this has been done before but I've done a search and not come up with any relavent results :S, there's load of info on C63's though lol
I've currently got an E60 M5, enjoying the car a fair bit and can't get enough of that V10 noise after my muffler delete, however the fuel costs are making me cry (currently at 14.6mpg on computer,however has been going down since I got it!).
I seem to get bored of cars quite quickly now as well, but have always looked at E55 AMG's (around an 03/04 model) when I've sold cars previously, I took the M5 as a part exchange for my 911 btw, wasn't a car that I went and purchased myself.
How is the AMG to live with? What i'm interested to know the most are the living costs of one of these cars.
What is the MPG you get if you were to drive daily,my commute to work is very very short (circa 3.5 mile round trip!) and 95% of my driving is local,town/city driving.
How expensive and regualar are services? I know it'll be costly on parts but I can do the work myself or use a local garage for work.
What kind of common faults are there as well?
Before someone says about the MPG etc, I've got a small loan I can pay off if I sell the M5 and still pay cash for a E55 AMG, so can justify the running costs then as I'll be saving £320ish a month right away! Using man maths no loan payment means still have a bad car on MPG, the M5 along with fuel + my loan is costing me over £600 a month,no loan that figure halfs and I'm ok with it!
My parents owned an '98 E200 for 6 years before we sold it after the gearbox went pop the second time around, but these car doesn't relate much to the AMG so comparing is pointless right?

Check out the mbclub uk forum. The E55 owners there have just answered every question you could have about the E55 AMG in recent weeks for a new member.

Cold start 3 mile commute in town 7-9 mpg.
Mixed round town/ A roads 13-14 mpg
Open road/motorway run driving Miss Daisy 24-25 mpg.
Main problems:
Airmatic suspension front struts £1200 + fitting, rears £650 + fitting
Earlier cars suffer with Valeo gearbox radiator issues which leak glycol into transmission, £3k rebuild.
Most important problem now affecting 02-06 E Class is SBC braking pumps are timing out, and Mercedes charges £1600 + fitting (4-5 hours labour). They were doing it FOC, but as cars approach 10 years old are now starting to refuse.
The E55 is a very different more docile everyday car than the E60 M5. Well looked after examples are getting harder to find.
