I sometimes like a nibble of Port Salut after dinner, to soak up the wine you know, and until recently I was able to buy it in my local CoOp.

But then it disappeared. No problem I thought, clearly there is insufficient demand from the local peasantry.

Today I ventured to Morrisons, which is a league above the CoOp, and strode forth to secure said cheese. Fail. Went to the deli section instead - gotta be there surely. Nope, no Port Salut there either. Bird behind counter said 'Is it like Brie?'

So, what has happened to Port Salut? Have all global stocks been acquired by an evil dictator about to take over the world of cheese, or has the EU banned it, or do I need to go to Waitrose?

No problem getting it at my local coop. Probably my favourite cheese too, apart from the low batch size hand made stuff I get at my local farm Shoppe.
