Hi Zig
Can't say for definite- i'll almost certainly be working as we've lots of bits and pieces to finish before the holidays. Saturdays are a bit difficult for me due to pressures of work. May just turn up to say hello to everyone if I'm not working if that's ok - not to worried about the buffet side of things - ill have to have a maccy D before I come smile

???? non-running wedge? Why sell a non-runner, unless it's got serious problems that can't easily be sorted and you want to get rid? Makes no sense to buy unless you have skill, time and patience or very long pockets.

Maybe the decision to sell is being forced on the seller (ie: impending divorce, lost his job etc) rather than trying to sell on a lemon. Though Caveat Emptor should apply when buying any vehicle smile

"all this dosh spent by previous owners and I bu*gered it up in six months"

But if it is a non-runner, time to put that LS1 (2,3,) engine in ....

Go right ahead: I'll give you £50 for that old knacker of an RV8 (complete with the crappy injection system you won't need on the LS...) wink

It SO pi**es me off that my series one 2.8 isn't wide enough (yeah I know a 302 Windsor will go in, but it's still VERY tight..). And it's the one with the bloody horizontal bar across
the front of the engine.

Yes. I seem to remember he's posted on here once or twice. Seems like he's getting rid of a couple of his wedges - from his profile he seems to have almost as many as Mr Tank!!rofl and a couple of Lotus's (Lotii?)too.

Aye, Nick has been buying and selling Esprits since the dawn of time; I bought my S3 from him in 2004 and he must have had 5 or 6 in various barns and sheds.
He got into TVRs more recently, maybe because Esprits are up into (really) silly money territory for no good reason now and the bargains are fewer and further between?

Not a trader but had around 50 cars at some point, mainly Lotus Esprits, Lancia Montecarlos, Wedges and 928's, yes did some p/x deals and so on but lost a fortune messing around and around 10 years ago whittled it down to several cars, mainly Lotus Esprits and a few TVR wedges.

The car went to TVR power about 18 months ago as it was running rough and needed a service, after 14 months, TVR Power / TVR Central / RT Racing charged me £1300 ( £900 in paint) and said I needed to convert to carbs. Very short version of a very long and stitch up by the garages concerned.

Got it back and removed the flapper injection and brought the 500 HC stuff, the loom was poor, so I then brought a few megasquit bits, then a twin plenum flapper setup, then some more hotwire stuff and its all sat here.

I am assuming that the three garages had some mechanicaly ability and the end result of fitting carbs would have sorted it out, means that the engine is sound and barring the injection issue wil sort the car, i spend about an hour a week on cars between work and family and so progress is slow, I cannot buy time and based on my garage experience would rather plod along myself.

Regards

Nick

So of the 1300 quid they only charged 400 for everything else they'd done? Sounds like they didn't look very hard at the injection for that money then. Problem is you (or they) don't know what may have been fiddled with before you got the car, it may not have the original ECU or airflow meter (usually the first two things that people swap when guessing).
For so-called specialists to dismiss it as 'needing carbs' is a p155-poor show. It wasn't built that way and can't have been running badly its entire life.
