The coldest morning for a while, and lots of (obviously correct) warnings on the radio about ice ..
so
on my journey I approached the place where there has been standing water for the last few days, and slowed down (in the dark) ... and the boy racer behind me came tearing past ..
If that was YOU in the Fiesta with a big bore de-cat exhaust, then you were very lucky not to end up in the hedge.

Does anyone else actually "think" about their driving?!

This made me do a lol, especially as it was the first reply. clap

Share the sentiment of the OP though. As snow fell on my way into PH Towers this morning I backed off to leave a gap as the MR2's current tyres are pretty awful. The Freelander behind me, though, didn't, see the sense in this, creeping ever closer in what I can only imagine was an attempt to make me drive faster and close up the gap. Cretins - they're everywhere. </rant>

Round my way it's great comedy to see the drivers of big heavy 4x4s think they are invincible but discovering the laws of physics state very clearly that 2 tons of metal on ice will ALWAYS continue in a straight line! smile

Stupid muppets.

Today was the first time I've taken my car out in a couple of weeks and I very quickly remembered why I hate driving in the winter. Not because it's slippy, but because there are plenty of numpties out there who will continue to steam up behind you in traffic, braking at the last minute whilst there is visible frost on the ground.

One on of these days.... I'm going to buy an old Land Rover.

How do you know the car was de-catted OP?

Bad driving is bad driving anyway, too many morons on the road.

Thick covering of snow here at a small village in Essex. Roads not gritted as they aren't main ones, and quite a few hills around our house. As always stupidity of trying to go up the steepest one which has a tight 90 degree bend half way, not quite sure why but always seems to be the 30-40 year old women who just attempt to nail it up there before realsing they're going no where and turn around.

Another thing was seeing the amount of people driving with snow still on their roof! Accident waiting to happen there.

In the summer I changed the slightly knackered knobbly tyres on my mountain bike for some fancy road tyres. They are bloody brilliant in the dry, dead easy to pedal. However this morning it occurred to me that the knobbly tyres do in fact have a place as road tyre offer very little in the way of grip on icy roads wobble

He doesn't know the car was de-catted.

But it was the most exciting thing that's happened in the chap's life for months, so leave him alone.

Well, the bad weather on Monday resulted in rather a few accidents, I'd say most people have no idea what driving to conditions means (many seem to actually think speed kills, the muppets). Delivery driver today said there were quite a few people proving that their ditch finders were well named.

I mean, I have been overtaken in thick fog before now, and in the heavy rain on Monday cars were screaming past me - two of them practically bumper to bumper....

Rode my bike yesterday and the rear tyre was a bit slidey. Casey Stoner I am not! Any worse and I don't think I'll be able to poo for a week.

Took the car today.

Absolutely. You can always get around on an MTB with knobblies in any conditions what so ever. I once switched from my usual MTB to a roadie bike, on apparantly the best wet weather tyres. Compared to knobblies the roadie tyres are shockingly dangerous! You may as well use greased up eels for tyres. Utterly ste does not even come close!

Have you considered that perhaps the fiesta in question had winter tyres on?

I wish I could describe the sheer fkwittery of my sons colleagues when I gave him a lift to work yesterday morning. Five cars all having the same accident one after the other and collecting each other on the same bit of road, all doing above the limit and completely ignoring the cars at odd angles in the road in front of them. I got through OK, tyres never even shimmied on the ice. How come I could feel the ice and they couldn't? I felt really sorry for the owner of the Shogun who was parked at the side of the road before these muppets came along, every one of them must have hit him before rebounding and hitting each other.
Might be Intelligent Finance, but certainly not Intelligent Drivers. aholes.
