There must be loads of places around the world where, just as the satellite was taking the photograph used on GoogleMap Satellite view, a plane was passing across the field of view. Has anybody come across any?

Let me start the ball rolling with this:

Unfortunately I don't know how to create a direct link to a GoogleMap location, but first call up GoogleMap, select the Satellite option, then type the following into the search bar:

Bells Bridge Ln, Preston, Lancashire

(It's actually the Fylde area of the Lancashire countryside, between Preston and Lancaster, by the A6. The waterway just west of the plane is the Lancaster Canal.)

ETA: Weird how the shadow of the plane has separated into the primary colours.

Intersting how it disappears as you zoom out and the photo is replaced by a different one.

I think that's the switch between the high res aerial and satallite images.

Interesting to compare the gap between consecutive shots of one particular vehicle on the road below with the corresponding gap between consecutive shots of the plane: check out the middle one of the three Jumbo piccies, and the truck with the pink cab-roof on the inside lane of the sliproad, directly north of the plane's forward fuselage; then the right hand one of the Jumbo, and the pink truck now a little bit further along the road. Some crude measuring makes the gap between Jumbo shots to be just over 4 times the gap twixt truck shots. So if the truck is averaging about 50mph over the period between shots then the plane would be averaging about 200mph then. nerd

Also interesting how (presumably) the wind is pushing the plane slightly north of the direction which its nose is pointing towards.

Doesn't look like a crash. Alameda is an old US Navy base, Mythbusters often film there. That looks more like an exercise of some sort.
