Sri Lanka?

I am looking for some general tips for Sri Lanka,

Single Guy, going for a week.

I want to go to Kandy as it looks interesting, I want to spend a couple of days at a beachy type place, maybe Hikkaduwa?

Apart from that I don't really have any other ideas, I know of the cultural triangle, but the entry rates to the attractions really do seem steep :/

OK, well for the benefit of anyone that's reading.

I went to hikkaduwa for a couple of days, then up to Kandy for a few more days.


Galle is worth visiting, Kandy is very nice too. Don't miss Sigiriya, well worth a visit.

Transport, just stick to buses between cities, and sometimes around cities as they are extremely cheap, unless a train is on offer (first class only, otherwise the A/C bus is a better option) cost for inter city buses was around £1-2 each and within cities around 10-15p.

Sri Lanka never crossed my radar as a place for a holiday. .. odd I guess as most of my neighbours are Tamil. ..

I liked it, I happened to go to India on the same trip and preferred India though.
