The website states Lexan Polycarbonate products combine high impact resistance with excellent fire resistance, I want to make the side windows on my TVR 3000m from this material but fixed in position with no winder mechanism and some kind of sliding vents. Does this sound reasonable from a technical scuitennering point of view? The fact this stuff is unbreakable is good from one perspective but will make it harder for a marshal to gain access in the event of an accident?

Erich, I had polycarbonate side windows fixed into my TVR Tasmin Race car. No issues whatsoever as long as you put either a hole or a hatch in there so the marshals can get their arm through to reach the wheel, door latch etc

it might be worth adding to dave's advise to make sure you go for "Marguard" or similar make to get Scratch resistance as if you don't get it scratch resistant it will look good untill the first time you wipe it with a clean cloth.

Sorry thought i ort be a little more helpfull try this product as a lot of the TVR racers use this in there cars 4mm......

A mate of mine has a different approach he doesnt use the scratch protected stuff as a sheet is about 80 quid v 400

He gets a couple of screens cut at the same time, and stores the spares. He works on the basis he'll replace them every couple of years with a new one once it gets scratched. seems to be working as his current screen in 3 seasons old..

I didn't use the marguard stuff for the side windows. The ordinary poly was good enough for those. They lasted 3 years. I only used the hard coat poly on the windscreen.
