How many people brought there TVRs brand new, and still own them....
I ask this as I have read in a MAG that only 7% of Porsche owners still own there new Porsche 3 years later....

I bought my Griffith on my 30th birthday from Hawthorns in Farnham, Surrey. It was number 51 of the last 100 and I had always promised myself one. I part-exchanged my 400SE (which I loved) for the Iris blue Griff. The only fly in the ointment is that I had to sell the car for financial reasons in October 2006. I bitterly regretted doing this as my finances improved almost overnight, but 9 months later I was able to buy the car back. It did mean a trip from Arundel to Elgin but I now have my car back, hopefully never to be sold again.

I pretend that the guy who owned it just had it on loan, and that it never left me properly. The interesting part was that the guy who bought it had a museum in Elgin with lots of exotic cars. He and his Dad are amateur racers and have won a few times at Goodwood Revivial, but he only put 900 miles on the Griffith, and that included driving back from Arundel to Elgin. It was just sat in a heated garage next to a mint Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI and a Mark 2 Jaguar. The hard part was paying slightly more than I had sold it for, especially to a Scotsman.

Do you know where in Elgin ? I'm heading up there in a couple of weeks and will have some time to kill. I assume it is open to the public ?

Hi, here is a link:

http://moraymotormuseum.org/plan-a-visit.html

It would seem that it is closed now, but it is well worth a visit. A good place to stay up there is Nairn and Cawdor. I stayed at this lovely old Georgian house whilst I was up there. It is run by the owners and is well worth a stay. Here is the link:

NI bought my Tamora new, April 2006. Not parting with her. When I die she will be donated to a motoring museum.

I am really gutted when I see these threads. There is only one make of car I would buy brand new TVR, I was only 20 when they closed down. If I had a brand new shiny new one it would last me a life time and spend its life pampered more so than my used tiv. Only if I were 10 years older and in the position I am in now I could afford it. Lucky sods smile

I bought my Chimaera new in September 1999. (It shares the barn with my Cerbera which I have not had from new, but wish I had! :-) ) It is a great car by any standard. We have had many adventures and I drive it regularly. I hope I don't have to part with it ever, I love it.

Pampered? Nah. Used as much as possible. Hard but properly, and serviced well. Loved? Hell, yes.

Bought my Tuscan new in Jan 03, traded for new Tuscan 2 in March 05, that caught fire in April 08, bought a 1 owner Sagaris to replace it, had to sell that when I moved to the USA as it couldn't be imported. Bought an '86 280i for fun as the youngest TVR available here in 2011.

Pampered does not mean lack of use , I am with you on that, Just when it has been used it is cleaned to a inch of it's life and with my garage set up it would be on the ramp and cleaned every few months to keep that chassis super fresh and as original as factory unlike my last 2 TVR that where hanging on the under side. So very sad, frown I have never had a new car and one as special as a TVR, So you are very lucky people to have been able to get a brand new one smile .
