Fitting new road bars

Just realised ive no idea how to fit my new bars to my road bike. Never messed with anything other than MTB's and bmx's so its a bit different for me.
Do i need to disconnect the brake and gear cables?
How is the brake/gear levers attached? where the bolt to relaese them? (105 if it makes any difference)
I assume you wrap the bar tape like you would a tennis racket grip? Start at the bottom and work up. What happens at the lever ?

take the bike to a bike shop... walk back out again with a new bike with full dura ace... that's how it's done.
in all seriousness...
unwrap the existing tape
loosen the hex key bolts that tighten the levers against the bars (pull back the rubber hoods and you will see the bolt... it's a bit of a faff and you will only be able to do a third turn at a time).
remove the front face plate of the stem, so the bars are free to move about. this will give you enough freedom to get the levers off the bars without removing the cables.
slip the levers off the bars.
put levers on the new bars.
re-attached to stem.
pull back the back of the hoods so you can tape up to the brackets
apply new tape (google how to do it)
should take about 10 mins
btw.. my vote is for lizard skins dsp tape.. it's bloody expensive but very very good... i've just switched over the cinneli gel cork and will never go back.
btw... if you are a flash b*st*rd with carbon bars that feature internal cable routings, you are into a whole new world of pain... i've been there and done it and lost hair over it all!
