My sister (junior/trainee solicitor) has been given a task to find the daily rental costs of renting two BMW by her royally incompetent law firm. I imagine someone has been in an accident, and is claiming back excessive amounts of money for a ''like for like'' hire car and they want to throw it back at him.

I have searched all the big rental brands but none allow you to specific what car you want to rent, just the grouping of cars which will may include a few different ones. The quotes need to be for a BMW series 330D Coupe and a BMW 3 series 320d Convertible, daily rental rate.

Does anyone know of any companies which would allow you to rent those specific cars?

Cheers guys

Bloody like for like.

I can't imagine why anyone "must have" a convertible as a replacement during an accident repair.

If I had a 320 convertible and had an accident, I'd be happy with a regular A4 / good skoda / 318 / good mondeo, etc... as long as it wasn't *massively different* and assuming I was even that bothered.

Try Thrifty, but you would need to call them for a specific car / date.

It's also worth noting the daily rate from a helphire style rental company will likely differ vastly from that of a high street reantal such as Enterprise or Hertz.

Will try thrifty now! Cheers guys.

From what little she can tell me the guy is playing hardball and refusing to accept anything other then his exact car (made, model, engine config etc), knowing full well they will upgrade him a class to appease him!

Boils my blood which is why i'm trying to help her out in finding the damn car/closest possible match.

Can't she just ring up a few hire companies and ask?

How about because through no fault of their own they have had their car taken away from them, it's not that I don't understand your point but currently dealing with roughly the same issue were my wife's 3 week old car has been written off due to another party and she has been given a car which she doesn't like (but is putting up with), this is upsetting her further as she waited a long time for her new car and a like for like car might cause less upset to her.

Getting "upset by a car" #firstworldproblems

I'm annoyed by those that demand "like for like" to exact model spec. There are extremes, admittedly.

If I had a white, 325i BMW saloon and it was crashed into, I would not personally be upset by being a given green 320i estate. The miles aren't going on "my car" so they are in essence, free miles to me.

If I had a Q7 and was offered a 120d I might be a bit miffed as the load space is vastly different.

Depends on lots of factors, but I have never personally been upset by a car. Frustrated after a crash, but never upset providing all parties are not injured.
