Music to drive to

Planning a solo 430mile trip next weekend

On long trips its important to pick the right music as changing a cd or tuning the radio on the move is frowned upon by the BiB.

I listened to James Blunt 'Back to Bedlam' and Snow Patrol 'Fallen Empires' on the last long run.

I fancy something different this time, any suggestions? and what would/do you listen to?

If I was driving 430 miles I'd want some good ear plugs to block out headache inducing exhaust noise. The stereo never gets used in my car, I don't like to listen to music / radio when driving and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to hear it anyway.

Cardigans My Favourite Game is one to make you really wanna drive fast!

Always found Best of Bob Marley good for long trips as songs go on for ever and in a single CD car means much less faffing around to change albums

Jamiroquai and Pink Floyd sound good

I tend to leave the disc on shuffle+repeat so I can listen too it properly and then it fades into the background... covering the ambient wind and exhaust drone. Then change the disc for the return trip.

Radio is no good cause it retunes every time the coverage changes and you end up hearing adverts most of the time anyway.

They aren't that bad... on the other hand I would rather eat a bullet than listen to Justin Bieber or 1Direction

I think Dad has a Led Zeplin box set somewhere. And I've found my Best Of Pink Floyd album.

If it was me, I'd cue up some compilations, like the Stompin' or That'll Flat Git It series.

Use it to explore stuff you haven't listened to before - Neil Young, Grateful Dead, any of the Blues 'greats' maybe

Not a bad idea. I've a 400 mile roundtrip on Thursday. The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are a good shout to help eat the M4/M25 miles.
