Being a bit of a 'nut' on all things transport (if its got wheels i'm interested)
I have built up a fair collection of books. One thing that is very noticable in the pics that i cannot recall seeing for at least 15yrs ( last one was a butchers in Whitstable high street) are the shop awnings that came down and formed a sunshade/umbrella outside the shop. Most had their names printed on them. Some even had side screens on.
Ornate lamps outside pubs, Horse troughs, although there are some in London that have ben converted into flower beds, little things that you took for granted as a kid, but now you find they have nearly all gone. and you dont notice until one day.....You suddenly stop and think Where the F... has that gone its been there since i was knee high to a sparrow, and you find out it went 20yrs ago (ok a lot of PH on here arent that old, but it will happen to you!!!)

Or the Irish contingent who had a nasty habit of using the street furniture as a good way of hiding their bombs, now add in a new threat and it makes "sense" to minimise the available hiding places. Left luggage offices seem thin on the ground for similar reasons.

The local town to me (Oundle) has tons of shops with the awnings on the front, as do others around here.
You just need to find the right sort of town!
