Hello

Last week a friend and I purchased a 1993 eunos as a bit of a fun project shared between us (we already have a few cars each so sharing this one makes sense)

Its a BRG eunos with tan leater seats and leather dash panel, wood dash trim/wheel and a tan leather gearknob and roof is a very faded tan colour. From my ltd knowledge before buying this import I suspected it to be a v-spec would this model have come with any lsd as std?

Does the trim as highlighted above confirm this?

Underneath is in immaculate condition no rust or signs of repair with original spot welds etc all visable. It looks 100% oe except a chrome front lower grill? is that std on these?

It has a minor oil leak which i'm yet to look at properly as my hands were cold and the garage were shutting and needed me off the ramp. Ordered some new plates front and rear to tidy the car up a bit.

does it sound about right spec wise and any diff? only done a few short trips in it but very much enjoying it upto now.

i have a mystery orange hazard style switch on the dash near where the key goes not figured out what it does yet either.

hello and thanks

Sounds like a Vspec to me. Will probably have a Torsen diff. Is there a sticker inside the door pillar?

I'll check the door stickers tomorrow its throwing it down now what should I be looking for ?

Also here is a pic of the mystery switch, looks aftermarket but fits well I've tried it with various combinations of lights on/off but all it does is glow up when on. Any ideas please ? It's mental having a switch you don't know what does or should do.

Where's the fog light switch? If you can't find one ...

Yep, fog light I'd imagine.

Ahhh of course thank you, I knew it was part of the UK registration process its been nicely recessed into rear bumper forgot it wouldn't have had an oe switch for it.

I can sleep now. Ordered some chassis braces the other day have used them on previous cars and thought for the £ worth a try on this. Only front and rear lower braces though.

Just to add the front grill is not standard but most people fit one to protect the radiator.

found a few bits missing, the battery has the upper clamp over the top but not the one down the side clamping it to the car so need one of them. its still got a japanese import battery as well which surprised me. the new plates and other bits should be with me soon.

found a japanese flare in the glovebox i assume part of the original emergency kit to set off if you breakdown and put on the road to act as a kind of warning triangle. cool its still with the car after 19 years. the stereo speakers are rubbish sounds like some have blown and it just cuts out.

nothing major just little niggles really.

A 93 V-Spec won't have a TorSen but will have a Viscous LSD. So long as the TorSen hasn't been retro fitted. Also, that light switch is fog lamps.

My fog light switch isn't enough ha ha

Hopefully once the ice has gone I'll give the cars a wash and post up some pics later today.

My imported S spec had the original flare thing too, and the same aftermarket fog light switch.

On the subject of speakers do you have perforated head rests? If so there's a couple of small rectanglar speakers in each seat - I swapped my duff ones out for a working set and they work surprisingly well at keeping the stereo audible with the roof down (or up for that matter!).

Good to see another MX5/Monaro owner smile Unfortunately I can't try mine back to back as they live 3,000 miles apart!

Yes the seats have the speakers in them mate, the passenger side works but our drivers seat has been changed and the electrical connections on the bottom are different so not wired up. It's on the list of jobs.

Got a nice little to do list now.

You will have read it, as I have seen the same thing written here and on other forums too, but its nonsense.

The LSD was original equipment on the 1993MY V Special, confirmed on the same Japanese hosted reference that I used when I imported cars from Japan.
