Lots of Pinto engined cars we see use Piper 285s, RL31, RL32. I haven't seen Newman cams in Pintos yet to test. From what we have seen on many other engines Newman are pushing low rpm torque as the Holy Grail.
What we have seen is that a pair of 45s is the way to go for good power from say 3000 upwards. The 38DGAS never fuels properly for part throttle cruising and low rpm acceleration. The non-progressive chokes may well suit a 3000 cc V6 but are not at all happy on Pintos, even with some carb specialists...this mod makes em perfect on Pintos! If you do not want to go the twin 45 route why not use a standard 2 l twin choke carb?

thanks for replies Iwould like to stick with the 38 dgas as it seems to work for me i.e.reasonable perf /economy but would like alittle more as the actress said tothe gardener ! ,rpm limit was erring to saftey for cast pistons and std rods very rarely use above 6k .I 'll do some more research
