Can anyone give some tips? Any general advice would be great, but also some specifics...

1. What's the best way to get from the airport to our hotel? Our hotel is here: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=Ange...

2. Where are the best places to eat? We don't have a huge budget (of the likes here), but am happy to spend where it's worth it; and especially want to try local delicacies.

3. What's the best way to travel around the city while we're there? We're there from Sunday-Friday.

Thanks in advance!

Everything is dirt cheap so don't worry about going over about £10 a meal. We ate in an amazing Italian restaurant in one of the posh streets and I had a lobster pasta that was about £6. Beer is £1 where ever you go, I think we saw a bar where it was £2.

Prague is fantastic, I would reccomend the castle, ice bar and viewing the dancing house. A great place, we also did a nuclear bunker tour for £10 each which was very good.

You can book taxis in advance online, we did and it was £15 to a similar place you are staying. We went in march to put it into context.

watch the taxis if you use them.
we did a gig there for a few nights.
train into the centre for a good night, and cab back. there were 7 of us, so 2 taxis, when we got back to the gig, we thought the price was abit high, then the 2nd cab turned up, so we checked with them, and our guy was trying to charge us double what the other cab was showing. cheeky tt.
great city though.

If you're the clubbing type then Cross Club is definitely worth a visit. cool

Stick to Czech Cusine (mainly pork) and it's all pretty cheap. Also avoid the bars/restaurants right on the river as these charge a premium.

Pilsner Urquell is the 'local' drink and easily obtainable for £1 a pint. It was cheaper than water in most cases biggrin and it's actually quite good.

Quite a lot of tourist things to do as well, castle, clock and bridges from memory.

Agree taxi fares beforehand and you should be okay.

If you appreciate architecture you'll love Prague. A heady mixture of Art Deco and Renaissance buildings unlike anywhere else in Europe. Allegedly' Adolf Hitler insisted that all manufacturing had to be moved outside the city during WW2 to ensure damage limitation from Allied bombing of the city.

Take a bus tour round the city, then a wee river trip on a boat serving food and drink. You'd be very unlucky to get ripped off there. The local pubs are great, enjoy the local tipple Becherovka, you'll probably get your first one free.

A wonderful, beautiful city with great friendly people. Shame about the bloody Russian Mafioso buying up all the prime property and pushing the locals out.

Cheers all. First day in, and it's been great, if a bit cold!

Any more suggestions?

The underground museum/storage place for the original Charles Bridge statues is worth a visit.

Not forgetting the Russian Orthodox Church & its cellars where the Germans flooded the Czech assasins who had barricaded themselves in. In Nazdereze Street (its opposite the relatives place!) There is a museum dedicated to them & worth a trip, its a 5 min walk from the centre.

Have you been up the funicular railway yet? Nice place at the top, and great restaurant at the half way stop.
