981 PCM 6-digit post code

Taken delivery of a brand new 981 'S' about 4 weeks ago.
Was a bit surprised that the PCM still had 4-digit post code search.... unlike my wifes Cayenne which we took delivery 6 months earlier ?

What digit post-code do you PCM's have ?

I see here that some OPC's are trying to charge for for the software update !

Not true, mine was made in September, delivered in October without 7 digit postcode.

I believe it is happening about now along with DAB for the 13 model year.

Mine was September build and was complete very early October with 7 digit post code, if you ave a 4 digit version and built in sept or oct I would insist on a free update otherwise its £500

Umm, Just checked mine again and it does have 7 digit. Thing is, when I picked up the car and the OPC was demonstrating the nav it DEFINITELY didnt go to 7 and when I questioned at the time he said 'oh no, it's not out yet'. I haven't used it since.

Porsche don't offer DAB, hence the whine. If they had, I would have it. No r6. :-(

I'll be speaking to my OPC tomorrow. I won't be expecting to pay for the software update either !

Anything from September build seems to have 7-digit post code search, anything earlier has 4.
I have been told by Porsche GB that they will update mine free of charge (thanks).
Problem is - not even PGB seem to know when the update stuff will be available in 2013.

Bitter sweet and badly managed by Porsche AG IMHO.
Look forward to the update when its available.

You might get the jukebox too then. Seems to have just been added to the Boxster PCM.

I spoke to my dealer (Reading) about this - I have a 12 plate 981 Boxster that came with 4-digit post codes - and he finally contacted my just before Christmas to say a software update was available. It went in a week ago and the update was applied successfully and I gladly paid £149 for it.

haha.. not sure about "gladly" paying for it given the 981 has barely been out... now if you had a 987.1 like me and offered 6 digit post code... that would be something to pay for

My June 2013 (MY2014) Cayenne has 7 digit postcode entry. Has annoying thing however (highlighted in other 7 digit upgrade thread) that previous destinations menu only shows the town in the list, not the postcode.

Still not as good as my three year old £170 Garmin however .....:-(

^actually the initial 7-digit PCMs showed nothing in the previous destinations list, i.e. blank entries. Showing the towns is the fixed version.
