My BMW M5 E60 has just had the red cog of death and dumped gearbox oil everywhere. See what the dealer has to say on Monday but at times like this I'm glad of the warranty.

Smg pump is leaking so new one is being fitted. Does anyone know if this is a gearbox out job, just wondering if I should get the clutch changed at the same time.

Gearbox does come out and it looks like the smg has leaked fluid over the clutch as well, which is now ruined. Warranty should cover this but just waiting for confirmation.

Which warranty - AUC, BMW insured or other? The BMW insured warranty actually states "we will not pay for damage to parts not covered by this warranty even if the damage is caused by a covered part." "Clutch facings" are not covered. So curious to see what happens...

BMW insured warranty, which is covering the replacement clutch and flywheel confirmed today.

Have to say Sytner Chigwell/Loughton have been fantastic as have BMW warranty. Hire car was provided and delivered at home on Sunday evening.

Fair play mate glad you are in good hands there. It's good to hear the excellent CS of some of these dealers!

Yup. Clutch should have been covered anyway. Not the customers fault that the SMG pump and fluid killed the clutch so its inclusive. Another top job by Mondial. I must say, this is the best warranty for any car out there.

3k a year? Is it? I pay 100 a month and some here pay less than that!

When you hit the 60k mark, it's more than the Ferrari Powertrain!

£90 a month, zero excess! £3k a year is the 60k miles + annual policy isnt it?

Pretty sure the dearest one is £2440 for fully comp with no excess including euro recovery (m5 or m6 >60k miles)and that was after an annual price increase in August.

seems strange, I bought an annual policy for an M6 at >60k miles in August and was categorically told by Mondial that it had just gone up to £2400ish as a maximum, have they increased the policy again in this short time? I was told the premiums are only reviewed in July for the August increase/decrease hence my first comment.

Was driving this morning and got a Cog symbol. Not sure if it's Orange or Red but for a small time it put me into Auto mode and would not let me engage manual mode. Stopped car whilst in gym and got back in and it drove fine.

After googling and reading the usual suspect forums it could be battery related so will get it checked out.

I got that message a number of times. The only way they fixed it in the end was a new gearbox!
