Is that sort of thing even legal in the UK?

I think I'll just stand and watch...

hmmm....
Is it one of those cases - just because you can build one - doesn't mean you should...?

Wouldn't like to be in it when the rubber band driving the tail rotor snaps. It would give a whole new meaning to 'autorotate'!

I've watched A Helicopter is Born and Mark Evens spends a lot of time getting things balanced, angles correct and many other things that I would imagine that builder forgot.

Looks like those belts to the tail rotor could also easily clip off the cogs too.

If you build any sort of aircraft in this country, I believe you have to keep getting it checked by a certified inspector at various specific stages of the build, and if any aspect doesn't meet certain standards then it won't be certified to fly. So I guess if it is indeed certified then it won't be the deathtrap it appears to be.

In some ways it doesn't look much flimsier than a microlight.

I could, of course, be wrong though. Mrs T says that sort of thing happens all the time.smile

You can build anything that isn't certified to fly, you can leave that particular banana skin to the nutcase you sell it to for a couple of thousand pounds. smile

Notice this bit.

"Disclaimer!
This helicopter does not have type approval or a UK certificate of airworthiness. Therefore I am selling it as unairworthy as it would be both illegal and unsafe to fly without the proper certification."

There must have come a point during the build process where he asked himself "Realistically...how am I going to feel when I end up trying to fly this thing?".

Full marks to the guy for seeing it through, but...jesus.
