Winter tyres for 997 turbo
Discussion
Yes, it definitely is for uk cars as well.
I had to put winter tyres (or as a minimum m&s tyres)on my wife's discovery when we drove to austria skiing las year.
They don't stop and check you, but if you are involved in an accident and you don't have winter/m&s tyres on, then you have problems...
Just wondered if there was a winter tyre recommendation from Porsche.
I am collecting a 'new to me' 997 tt from Porsche Portsmouth tomorrow, but need to drive to koln later this week, so could do with ordering some rubber ASAP...

Was there myself with a pal 3 weeks ago at the ring in his DBS.
We stopped the night in Koln and drank quite a few of the Kolsch beers!
I had to drive the DBS next day because his head was a bit fragile!
Anyway I did the drive from Koln to Calais in the DBS , and hence the reason I am picking up a 997 tt tomorrow .......
The DBS was hard work....

It was a tough call!
What really swung it was that I had only just sold a 2011 xkr and I simply fancied a change!
I was offered a good deal on a 2009 997 tt and decided to go for it!
I'm collecting it tomorrow.
The jag was a great car, pounds for performance it's pretty hard to beat, but I just needed to scratch the 997tt itch!
The way I look at it, if I don't like it I can flog it!

Surely the OP can google "winter tyre law Germany" and discover that you only need to have winter/M&S tyres on if you drive the car in wintery conditions (read the google results for what those are) suffice to say if the roads are clear and it is not icy then you are OK on normal tyres.
Is this more of an "I have bought a 997 turbo and will be gunning it on the autobahn next week" thread ?
Lucky sod

Exactly what I was thinking. That's a very visible spot on your car if that's permanent, It'll either add or detract from the cars value, depends on your view of Sabine!

The airbag cover is replaceable at modest cost if the worst comes to the worst, then it can go on eBay!

Continental TS 830P is superb and well worth a look. Comes in 295 and 235 size, W rated. We have them on our other car and they are astounding.
